EVENT DESCRIPTION

Restaurant Day at the Capitol is an invaluable opportunity for restaurateurs to speak with their own legislators about significant policy proposals being considered in the State Capitol.

Legislators have until February 21^st to introduce their own proposed legislation and we expect lawmakers to collectively introduce nearly 2000 proposed new laws.

Some of the top legislative areas we expect to focus on this year include:

Restrictive scheduling mandates (SB 850, Leyva- D)
Property tax increases: business properties
Preserving the existing franchise model/independent contractor definitions
Single-use food-ware bans or restrictions
Wage pressures

If you are a restaurateur who shares concern over these issues, we invite you to Restaurant Day. Come share your story with legislators on how these issues impact your business!

The event includes an issue briefing with CRA public policy staff, a strategy session with fellow attendees, and group meetings with your legislators. Every attendee will receive a legislative meeting schedule based on your business location(s) and/or the address you use to register for the event.). You will attend your meetings with fellow restaurateurs.

To help prepare our attendees, we are offering two informational webinars prior to the event. The webinars will be a helpful way to learn about Restaurant Day tips, guidelines and 2020's hot legislative issues.

Additionally, we are excited to invite you to our evening event, "Night Cap at the Cap." This complimentary, festive event is a restaurant-exclusive reception and closes CRA’s annual Restaurant Day at the Capitol, providing a wonderful opportunity to mingle with your elected officials in a more relaxed environment, all just a short walk from the State Capitol.

1-5:00 p.m. - Legislative Meetings at the State Capitol

5-7:00 p.m. - “Night Cap at the Cap” (The MIX Downtown) *Please note that you will need to register for this event separately

REGISTRATION DETAILS

- Open to CRA member and non-member restaurant owners and operators.

- Closes on Tuesday, April 6 at 11:59 p.m. PST. Registering by the deadline ensures you receive a legislative meeting schedule based on your business location(s).

- Includes optional breakfast, morning program at the Hyatt Regency, lunch and afternoon legislative meetings.

- Advanced registration is required to ensure your spot in private policy meetings with legislators and to receive all communications and briefing materials in advance of your meetings with legislators.

- Space is limited, so register as soon as possible! If you wait to register until after event capacity is filled, email mburton@calrest.org. You will be placed on a waitlist and notified immediately if space opens.
